Sonnet: a 14-line poem written in iambic pentameter, consisting of three quatrains and a couplet with a rhyme scheme of ababcdcdefefgg.
I wrote this sonnet relatively quickly - that is, after spending more than a week trying to figure out a suitable topic. I threw out a couple of ideas before finally settling on writing a poem about the night. Many people find darkness frightening and are much happier during the day, but I have always found the night peaceful and very beautiful. I hop I can express this in my poem.
The actual writing was alot easier than I expected, actually. Every line is supposed to have 10 syllables. I had thought that that would have been really hard to do, but actually, it was surprisingly easy. The lines I came up with mostly already had 10 syllables. I only had to do a bit of tweaking!
What I most like about the poem is the mood it creates. It is peaceful and quiet, and I hope you will be able to visualize the scene as I see it.
